Monitoring solder spots of components on a guide plate
AOI systems are increasingly used in the electrical industry to visually monitor assembled printed circuit boards. The lighting is especially important here.
In this application, the various features are singled out by different wavelengths. Image 2 = red light Image 3 = infrared light
1. Task: Monitoring solder spots
The green solder resist and the components show up darkly in the red light (complementary colour). The uncoated solder spots appear bright..
2. Task: Monitoring component assembly/polarity
Infrared light penetrates the solder resist and makes the board appear bright. The components are visible in dark contrast and their completeness and polarity are recognisable. |
