THERMOGRAPHY

Contact-free. Non-destructive. Reliable.

Using thermal imaging cameras, you can make automated non-contact temperature measurements in many applications.

Thermal imaging cameras measure the infrared radiation of objects and produce a thermal image. This upgrades the machine vision by the dimensions of temperature and invisibility.

Absolutely new fields of industrial image processing applications:

  • Measuring inside of products
  • Measuring on inaccessible positions
  • Measuring of solid, liquid and gaseous mediums

Flexibly combined - thermal imaging cameras and visual cameras

vicosys® mit Wärmebildkameras

The real time-capable vicosys® multi-camera system allows different cameras to be combined flexibly. Both visible and invisible features can now be detected in one step.

To the thermal imaging cameras

The realization of fast and efficient production processes is supported by the network technology. The multi-camera system can be integrated into the machine to deliver real-time capability by means of the Sercos fieldbus (real-time Ethernet), among others. This has proven to be particularly worthwhile in demanding applications such as packaging, where high dynamism and precision are required.

To check a non-transparent plastic bottle and its content, thermal imaging cameras and visual cameras are used at the same time. That means the print image and the integrity of the packaging as well as the fill level in the bottle are verified in one step.

All algorithms that have been developed for use in the visible range can also be applied in the infrared range.

APPLICATIONS

In the food industry in particular, the ability to inspect sealed packages, ascertain fill levels and check the temperature of perishable goods is a critical element of quality assurance. Previously certain features could only be checked by means of random samples. Now, however, it is possible to inspect all products continuously, even at high process speeds.

Other possible applications in the food industry include bonding checks on external packaging and the continuous temperature measurement of foodstuffs in the production process. In the automotive sector, weld seams and adhesive beads can be inspected.
